From Memories in Colour & Song
By Roz Robertson, Founder
Sometimes it begins with sunlight moving across a wall, a bird landing outside, a familiar song or a colour that catches someone’s eye.
One small moment can open the door to expression, memory and connection.
Who We Are
Memories in Colour & Song is a Scottish creative wellbeing practice founded by Roz Robertson.
We create shared moments of presence, expression and connection through colour and song. Our work brings together seasonal noticing, photography, creative making, music, words and gentle movement in ways that are welcoming, meaningful and adaptable.
There is no expectation to be artistic, remember particular details or complete a finished piece. People are invited to participate in whatever way feels right for them.

We Begin With a Moment
Everything starts with one simple invitation:
We Begin With a Moment.
A moment might be something seen, heard, felt or remembered. It may last only a few seconds, but pausing long enough to notice it can create a meaningful connection with ourselves, another person or the world around us.
This invitation sits at the heart of everything Memories in Colour & Song creates.
Through the Window
Through the Window is the established creative practice that brings this invitation to life.
The window can be a real window – but it does not have to be.

It might be:
- A changing view or patch of sky
- Light, colour or movement
- A seasonal detail
- A photograph or familiar object
- A sound, song or remembered place
- Something noticed during a walk
- A moment held in the imagination
The window is simply the way in.
The moment is the heart of the practice.
A Practice for Different Ways of Participating
Participants are gently invited to pause, notice something meaningful and respond in their own way. That response might come through colour, photography, words, creative making, music, song or gentle movement.
For someone who communicates differently, participation may be choosing a colour, humming, making a small movement, looking closely at a photograph, sharing one word – or simply staying with the moment.
There is no correct response and no pressure to share. The value lies in the experience of noticing and connecting.
Share One Moment
When someone chooses to share what they have noticed or created, it can become Share One Moment.
It might be a photograph, a colour, a piece of artwork, a few words, a remembered song or a short story.
Sharing is always optional and consent-led.
Together, these individual contributions can create a living record of moments noticed and valued across different people, places and care settings.
Pause.
Notice.
Respond.
Share or keep.
Return.
A Journey Through the Seasons
Through the Window can stand alone as a simple everyday creative practice.
For those wishing to explore more deeply, The Four Seasons Collection creates a gentle seasonal journey around it – inviting people to return, notice change and experience colour, sound, making and movement throughout the year.

Every season brings something different to see, feel and share.
Every season begins with a moment.
An Invitation to NAPA Members
Memories in Colour & Song would love to connect with Activity Providers and care settings interested in discovering how Through the Window could live within their own communities.
Whether the first response is a photograph, a colour, a few words, a remembered song or a quiet moment of noticing, everyone can find their own way into the practice.

Through the Window is created and led by Memories in Colour & Song.
